The Buffalo Alley 10k Run - Oceanside

The Buffalo Alley 10K Run (formerly the “Horno Ridge Run”) offers the ultimate in Hard Corps Competition in a cross-country 10K. The course begins at Camp Horno, home of 1st Marines, and winds up, up, up, into the hills of Camp Pendleton. SCHEDULE: Race starts at 8:30am – mass start. Day of race registration and t-shirt pick-up opens at 7:00am. ENTRY FEES: CIVILIANS: $35 on or before October 19, $40 after October 19 or on race day. ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY (not stationed at Camp Pendleton): $30. MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: MCCS Fund 0140. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Dixon Lake Trout Derby - Escondido

Bring the entire family to Dixon Lake for the annual Trout Derby — a fun-filled event that offers anglers of all ages many ways to win great prizes. To enter, each fisherman must purchase a daily permit normally required to fish the lake ($5 adults; $4 seniors over 60; and $3 for kids under 16). Adults 16 and over must also have a California Fishing License. There is no additional charge to enter the derby. Fish must be weighed in during derby hours, 6am to 4:45pm on the day they are caught. Family Fall Fest - Poway

This fall theme, “The City in the Country,” represents the ideals of our community, with its unique blend of health, home, family and community. The street fair is expected to attract over 15,000 people and 200-plus vendors to Midland Road between Poway Road and Hilleary Place. Booths offer birdhouses, pottery, candles, quilts, pillows, handcrafted jewelry, African art and numerous local business services. The Kids Zone includes live pony and llama rides, a rock-climbing wall, an interactive building block activity area, laser tag and amusement rides. The street fair features live entertainment and something for everyone, including all musical tastes. Also featuring international foods, something for everyone to enjoy. Running from Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Day, the Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is a spectacular drive-through light show and exhibit. Themed for the holiday season, it has more than 350 crowd-pleasing family-oriented displays. Visitors view the lighted holiday creations from their vehicles as they drive along a route through the FairgroundsHoliday of Lights and around its racetrack. Rancho Christmas - Rancho Guajome

Adobe Celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas, as you wander the 22 rooms at Rancho Guajome Adobe, built in 1853. The adobe will be decorated to replicate holiday decor in the 1800s, using natural materials to make wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces. Open 10am-4pm both days.
